Why do you cover so many fees when other importers don't?
Because we believe in full transparency and ease of access when importing your vehicle from Japan. We include all these fees together to make it much more easy for you to get accurate quotes, and there's no surprises at the end!
Okay, what other fees am I expecting to pay in Canada?
Port Fees
375$ CAD or 0$ if deciding to go with the premium package. I include this in my service.
Inland Transport
0$, I include this in my premium package. Otherwise it's 500$ if moved on your own.
Duty
Most vehicles in Japan can be claimed as Duty free, unless you import a larger commercial vehicle. Then it will be varied.
Excise tax
100$ CAD is charged by every vehicle entering Canada with AC.
Tax
GST will be 5% at CBSA of the vehicle cost. I do not cover this fee, and will vary depending on the cost of the car.
Additional Tax
You will have an additional 7% PST upon your registration of your new import at ICBC. Taxman is going to find you somewhere!
Mechanical services and Inspection
When you first acquire your fresh import from Japan, you will have a few things to consider. Vehicles in Japan are not equipped with DRLS(daytime running lights) and are mandatory in British Columbia. You will also require side marker lights, DOT approved tires with good tread, good brakes, among other safety related items. It's possible you may need additional work to pass inspection, and that could be varied depending on the vehicle. That is the biggest risk with importing.
You may require additional work to pass inspection. If you chose our premium package, we include a large amount of the labor, and install everything to make it comply to inspection. We also include the inspection cost. No one else will do this!
You will not be able to beat our services and costs! If you decide to do inspection on your own, expect to spend around 250$ CAD at a shop AFTER you have all the required items.
